Paid Leave & Short Term Disability

A balance of up to 336 hours of paid leave can be accrued while employed at the University.  You will earn leave each month through your last month of employment.  Any unused paid leave, up to the maximum accrual (currently 336 hours) will be paid either in a lump sum on your final paycheck or can be paid out. You may elect to have remaining paid leave, paid on a regular payroll cycle until their remaining paid leave hours are paid. 

According to University policy, extended sick leave is not paid at termination or retirement. If you have accrued 960 hours (120 days) of extended sick leave by your last day at work, OTRS will give you one year of credit toward your retirement.  Or, if you have less than 960 hours, OTRS will use it to add to any partial year of OTRS service you may have to receive a year of service.
