IFSS is currently processing requests to extend the H-1B status of current workers for 2008. Requests are being processed in order of receipt and are being filed as expeditiously as possible.  IFSS will be informing sponsoring departments when the USCIS Receipt Notice arrives.  H-1B workers that would like to track the USCIS Online Case Status may obtain the USCIS Receipt Number from their department contact. While the petition is in adjudication with USCIS, the H-1B class of worker is authorized to continue employment with the same employer for a period not to exceed 240 days beginning from the date of that authorized period of stay.
