Earning Statement FAQ's for the Norman Campus

How can I set an Outlook Calendar event to remind me to look at my earning statement? Choose the appropriate link below to set an earning statement reminder for your Microsoft Outlook Calendar. This calendar entry is recurring and will remind you to check your online earning statement each pay period. Just click the link below. Choose to open the file and then save it like any other Outlook appointment.

How do I see my online pay statements? Watch this quick How-To video (Flash video, 3 minutes).

  1. From the Human Resources web page, click on the Self-Service link.
  2. Click on the Norman Self-Service link and log into Self-Service using your OU NetID (4+4) and password. Call 325-HELP if you need assistance logging in.
  3. Choose the “Self-Service” link on the left.
  4. Choose “View Paychecks” in the middle column of the screen and select the paycheck date you would like to view. Click “View All” to see more than 8 earning statements.

I'm in Self-Service. Why can't I see my earning statement? If you can’t view your earning statement, you should adjust the pop-up blocker settings in your internet browser. You may also need to download the newest version of Adobe Reader at http://get.adobe.com/reader/. Call the IT HelpDesk at 325-HELP for further assistance.

Who gets an electronic earning statement? This transition to electronic pay statements applies to all employees that receive any sort of paycheck from OU. This includes student employees, graduate assistants, and adjunct instructors.

What are the benefits of online pay statements?

  1. Online statements save approximately 1.77 tons of paper per year.
  2. They reduce the university's costs by $30,000 per year.
  3. Your electronic earning statement is available three days earlier than the printed version.
  4. It's available through Employee Self-Service 24 hours, 7 days a week.
  5. Copies are always within your reach. Electronic pay statements are saved in Employee Self-Service as far back as 2003 for Norman employees.

Who do I call for assistance with my online earning statement? If you need help with Employee Self-Service, you should contact the IT Help Desk at 325-HELP or needhelp@ou.edu. If there is an error with the content of your earning statement, call Employee Services at 325-2961.

When are my earning statements available? Your pay statement is available 3 days before payday (Norman Payroll Calendar).

Why can't I get my earning statement in an email? Several issues present a challenge when emailing information the most important being security and privacy. Financially sensitive information sent over the internet can be misdirected and intercepted.

Will I get an email every time a statement is available? Not at this time.

How can I get a paper copy of my pay statement? If you need to save a copy of your earning statement, the best way to go green and do this is to save a copy of your electronic pay statement to your personal computer. This saves paper and keeps your electronic earning statements at your fingertips. If you need a printed copy, you can also print the PDF document.

How many pay statements are stored in Employee Self-Service? Pay statements are stored in Employee Self-Service as far back as 2003. They are kept in Employee Self-Service for as long as you're an employee at OU.

Can I access Employee Self-Service from a computer off-campus? Yes. There is no longer a separate link for off-campus access to Self-Service. The Self-Service link on the Human Resources homepage works for both on-campus and off-campus access to Self-Service. In the past, off-campus access to Employee Self-Service was through a different link and a VPN. This is no longer the case.

What if I can't access Employee Self-Service? All employees that receive a paycheck from the university have access to Employee Self-Service and online earning statements. If an employee is having trouble logging in, they should contact the IT HelpDesk at 325-HELP or needhelp@ou.edu. The HelpDesk will be able to reset the login information to give the employee access.

How can I keep from getting OU mass email? If you've received email about online earning statements, then your university email account is part of global email list maintained by the university. As long as you are active with the university, you will be part of that mailing group. If you do not wish to receive ANY university mass emails, you can filter out and delete all emails with  "OUMM" in the subject line. The IT HELPDESK can help with that at 325-HELP.
