TB Testing Policy FAQs

Q: How does the testing requirement for being “outside the US for more than 8 weeks continuously” apply to current employees?

A: We will not require continuing faculty or staff to meet the testing requirement for being “outside the US for more than 8 weeks continuously”, unless their return to campus is after the August 16, 2007 effective date of the policy.

Examples for continuing faculty/staff:

  • Professor “A” is residing outside the U.S. from June 1, 2007 through September 17, 2007. When Professor “A” returns to campus on September 18, 2007, he or she would be subject to the policy.
  • Professor “B” has traveled extensively over the last year, spending several months outside the U.S. between January 1, 2007 and July 31, 2007. When Professor “B” returns to campus on August 1, 2007, he or she would not be subject to the testing requirement since their return to work is before the August 16, 2007 effective date of the policy.

Q: If I need to obtain a TB skin test or chest x-ray at OU Health Services, what does it cost?

A: A TB skin test is $10.00. The cost for a chest x-ray is $32.00 but is only required if the TB skin test is positive. The cost of TB testing is the employee’s responsibility.

Q: Where do I send evidence of TB testing?

A: OU Health Services - Goddard Health Center - 620 Elm Avenue, Norman, OK 73019
