Graduate Teaching & Research Assistants

Plan Information

The University of Oklahoma pays the cost of Plan II for qualified Graduate Teaching Assistants and Graduate Research Assistants.  To qualify, a student must:

  1. Meet enrollment requirements:

    • Be enrolled in 6 credit hours in the fall or spring semester.
    • Be enrolled in 3 credit hours in summer semester for summer only coverage.
    • If you are in your last semester before taking your thesis or dissertation and you need fewer than six hours, you may continue to have coverage. (You have this option only once during your attendance at OU.)
  2. Be appointed to a 50% FTE or greater position and;
  3. The appointment must be approved by the Graduate College.

Options

When enrolling online, you can choose additional options.

  • Add dependents.
  • Upgrade to Plan I

You can choose to pay the additional premiums through payroll deduction or a one time charge to your Bursar Account.

Dental Option

Qualified Graduate Teaching and Research Assistants may participate in a voluntary dental insurance plan offered through Aetna. Premium for the voluntary dental plan is fully paid by the student and must be paid by a payroll deduction
