The Firehouse Art Center (FAC) is a non-profit 501(c) (3) corporation located at 444 South Flood Avenue, Norman, Oklahoma 73069. The Firehouse was founded in 1970 as a community arts center, operating out of a vacated, city-owned building, which previously served as a fire station. The Firehouse has transformed to house highly professional working visual arts studios, which accommodate both adult and youth art education programming, a permanent gift shop, and a dedicated gallery space. The Firehouse also participates in many community events and has become the foremost provider of high quality in-school education opportunities for elementary schools in the Norman Public School (NPS) system.

The Firehouse is seeking an OU student, preferably one pursuing a degree or a career working in education or with children, for a paid position in the summer of 2022. If you are interested in the following position, please e-mail info@normanfirehouse.com with your cover letter, resume, and your complete availability from ASAP - August 5.

This is a paid position in the Firehouse's Children's Summer Art Program (CSAP), perfect for a student who is pursuing a career working with children. The student will work from 9:45 AM - 12:15 PM Monday - Friday from ASAP to August 5 (with a break from July 4 - 8), assisting in the preparation and organization for CSAP, the daily program activities, liaising between the administration, teachers, and parents, and compiling the end of session art exhibition, among other duties. The aide will be responsible for supervising the children from 3 classes (a 5 - 6 year old class, a 7 - 10 year old class, and a 10 - 14 year old class - max 12 students each) at drop-off, at recess in the park, and at pick-up.

Depending on the qualifications of the applicant, more hours may be available for specific additional projects.
